BEST OF MANINGRIDA
MAIN SPACE
barks & poles ? suites of work by the following artists
JAMES IYUNA
JOHN MAWURNDJUL
SAMUEL NAMUNDJA
IVAN NAMIRRKKI
IRENIE NGALINBA
TIMOTHY WULANJBIRR
For this exhibition from Maningrida we have chosen to exhibit fewer works and concentrate on quality and installation. The barks and poles of the six participating artists have been divided up into ?suites? or mini installations consisting of a one to three barks, usually augmented by a couple of ceremonial poles. The hanging will therefore be elegant and spare and represents carefully selected works by the leading artists from the region and mark the best works available from Maningrida.
SECONDARY SPACE
fibre and woven works
PENNY MARRALARRMIRR ASHLEY
BOB BURRUWALL
FREWA BARDALUNA
LENA YARINKURA
ANNIEBELL MARRNGAMARRNGA
MARINA MURDILNGA
Anniebell Hansen?s large and finely woven yawkyawk (Female Water Spirit) figure highlights this exhibition. The aim is to show the finest artists working in fibre from the Maningrida region. In contrast to the big room show, the installation will have a noisy, humorous cacophony to it with the emphasis on originality.
