'Emerald' and 'Laced Grooms'

Emerald showcases human interaction with water whilst exploring the properties of the gemstone.

The images make a continuous comparison of the emerald to water because of the former’s smaller size and limited availability.

Emerald compares the two elements inversely, with water demonstrating the properties of emerald that make it precious.

From its raw form with inclusions to the gem quality form, the series exhibits both the different characteristics of the gem and the relationship of humans with water.

Laced Grooms explores elements of death, the formal dress code and rituals for women, and the taboos regarding men and lace or the veil.

Depending on the tradition, from a week to a year, widows have to follow certain rituals as directed by culture or religion. Conversely there are few formalities for men.

This series portrays the varying stories of men observing the mourning period.
