Our first exhibition of Loic Le Groumellec was in 1987 at Milburn + Arte Gallery before we even opened at Annandale in 1990 – a period of continuous working with the artist of twenty-five years. In that time we have gathered a number of works together from various periods from some very early small brown paintings, his first black painting through to some works exhibited in 2010. Le Groumellec comes from Carnac in Brittany and has been inspired by the hundreds of five-thousand year old rock menhirs in the fields around Carnac. His powerful images of these mysterious objects, often set among farmhouses, tend to work their way into in the mind of the viewer and once there – not let go. Le Groumellec has exhibited over the years with the best galleries in France, including Yvon Lambert, Karsten Greve (Paris, NY and Cologne) and Daniel Templon. He lives and works in Paris.
